DBN Mahratta Wars

The 74th Highland Fusiliers
Another project, nearly there...  The Second Mahratta War, immortalized in Bernard Cromwells Sharpe's Triumph.  The Audiobooks are fantastic, if you have never listened to them, well do so!

I wanted the British troops to have the distinctive headwear from Ospreys Assaye book.  The old 'head' replacement trick was in order.  I had picked up a lot of Napoleonic Brits from the Durham Wargames show a few years ago.  These would be the guinea pigs, off with their heads & on with the new ones.   Obtained from the fantastic Peter Pig 15mm range . (Though I wish they would make a Napoleonic Heads range...come on Peter Pig!)

I'm happy with the results, though it's a bit odd as they are meant to be a Scottish Regiment.  Anyway, I've still got a lot of figures to paint, especially the East India company troops.  I will get round to them one day!

Strapping Scotsmen to spank the Mahrattas...

Not a skirt, sorry kilt in sight...lol

Officer, Colour party & Sergeant.

The Grenadiers

Honorable John Company Horse Artillery.

Lovely Boys...

WWWAAARRGGHH!
Look at this lot!
Mahratta Cavalry....

Sharp swords & pointy lances abound!

A mixture of many manufacturers.

Four distinct regiments

The mighty Tipu Sultan riding his elephant..
or as Sharpey would say "The Fat B******!"

The 74th advance!

Osprey's Assaye, a worthwhile addition to the library.

Very much looking forward to the first game with these guys. A beautiful period and you've done a stunning job with them!

Cheers Bud.

It will be interesting to see how the British cavalry deal with the hordes of Mahratta's!

I've got the rest of the troops from Freikorps 15mm range primed & based, I just need to get the paint onto them..gggrr!

I'm obsessed with Team Yankee at the moment, I've nearly finished the Soviets & Yanks in 6mm. I've followed your posts, are you planning to play more games?

Cheers

Cheers Peter,

It was a pain, but I'm pleased with the 74th. I shall try to get the rest finished .

Perhaps tartan trews would help with the Scottish look.
