Team Yankee 1 - Wagner's Farm

Strapping Soviet lads advance..
Our first game of Team Yankee, 'the war that never was'...  I took the Soviets, Spav the Yanks.   I think point wise, it was about a 50 'ish' each side.   To win the game, either side exit on the road on your opponents side or destroy the enemy HQ unit.

Battlegroup Rasputin
 HQ T-72, Tank Platoon 8 x T-72, Motor Rifle Platoon 5 x BMP-2 with Infantry

Team Yankee
HQ Abrams, Platoon 4 x Abrams, Mech Platoon 5 x M113 with Infantry

Played across the long side of the table, minimal buildings.

View from the USA side.

The Yanks got initiative, the Tank Platoon took the hill covering the valley.

The Mech Platoon took cover in the hedgerow.

The Soviet Tank Platoon advance across the fields.

The BMP's take cover behind the woods.

Turn Two
Only a few targets for the Yanks.

BOOM!  A T-72 is hit & brews up.

The Dragon teams are ready.

The Soviet Infantry advance through the woods.

Soviet T-72's only fie once a turn,  the Abrams has double that rate.

Woohoo! Two US Infantry teams are are taken out

View from the the Soviet side.

Splendid.  The US Mech Platoon have good cover.

I cautiously advance...

Turn Three
Another T-72 is taken out.

A Soviet RPG Team is destroyed by M113 fire.

Get into them!!!!
The strapping Soviet lads advance across the field.

I'm landing hits but not destroying the US Tanks.

I'm happier with the advance across the middle.

More casualties for the US Mech platoon.

OOOhh!
The Soviet Infantry take some casualties.

ANNOYING!
Another T-72 goes BOOM!

I advance the  remaining T-72's to get into close range & avoid a penalty on the combat rolls.

I'm confident the Soviet Infantry will beat the US Infantry.
WooHoo!
The pressure pays off, a Abrams is destroyed.

Right I need to get the BMP-2's into the Abrams.

The US Mech Platoon are taking a whooping.

That road is looking very open.

I use the cover of the farmhouse, to mask the advance.

Turn Five
Spav takes a gamble & advances the Tank Platoon towards the T-72's.

The US Mech Platoon 're-deploys' behind a hill.

Right, ready aim....

The BMP-2's advance into a good position, on the flank of the US Tank Platoon

The BMP-2 gun has a good rate of fire...

Oh yes....

Some shots hit the side armor of the HQ Abrams.
Game Over.

Final positions
Good game, of course we got a few +1's & -1's wrong.  The combat system is all D6 based, add or subtract modifiers, then roll to save.  We played another game & both of us enjoyed it.  We will add more combat units in the next game.

The rulebook is nicely illustrated, lots of examples.  The data in the books is recorded on cards, makes gaming much easier.

Cheers Peter

The Team Yankee rules are nice & simple, but work really well. There are lots of extra rule explanations on Youtube.

Cheers

Great write up. I am working up to playing TY. Just still waiting to aqurire my figures. Can you tell me more about your battle board. Definetly love the way the fields and pathways are painted.

Hello!!!

The board for Wagner's Farm is the Del Prado 'Waterloo' mat. I managed to get a hold of one & I glued it to some hardboard. With the addition of a few 'terrain' pieces, it looks the business.

How is your Team Yankee gaming? Are you going for the 15mm option or choosing another scale.

i have got hold of copies of 'Fate of a Nation' for Egypt/Israeli games & now Oil War for Iraq/Iran games.
All the Best
