DBA 15-19K Boxer Rebellion - Boxers
Inspired by 55 Days at Peking.... Oh Charlton Heston again! Here's our Boxer Army. Looking at the DBA 1500-1900 Lists, the Boxer Rebellion doesn't show. However, I still think the period can be covered by the extensions.
We've stuck with a 24 element army to face the upcoming '12 base Major Powers Army'. Mainly comprising of 'Fanatics', we've also allowed Psiloi, Jagers for some sniping firepower & a Cannon element (meant to represent older artillery pieces).

Incidentally the BBC ran a cracking program in their TIMEWATCH series on the Boxer Rebellion. A much more 'truthful' version of events.
However you can't view the program on BBC iPlayer anymore. Here's the link to the Beeb's Timewatch site for a preview http://www.bbc.co.uk/timewatch/
We still love the movie though!!!!
Boxer Rebellion : Boxers.
1-3x Jagers (3); 1-3x Psiloi (3); 17-22x Fanatics (3);
0-1xCannon(3); 1xLeader.

How's it going MrF? December 2008
Just a quick update, as work & study are taking up far too much time!
Crimbo is coming, so we'll have a couple of weeks off. In between the festivities hopefully we'll get some games in.
Projects on the go, Boxer Rebellion, Zulu Wars, Afghan Wars. Well, I'm well & truly hooked on the Colonial period. After our Sudan Wars project, I've found the 19th Century to be very interesting.... (ponder, ponder, stroke chin).
Here's a few pics of some of the figures we've come up with so far. The DBA Extensions don't have any lists for the Rebellion so we'll have to make our own.
Prince Tuan & some Kansu Braves..... US Marines, Sikhs & Royal Marines
BOXERS up close. Plus Royal Marines (Jaegers)
Hopefully we'll get some more posts in before Crimbo...
If not Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year to all!!

Battle of Dreux 1562 - DDBA Catholic vs Huguenot
Here's our make of the Battle of Dreux, fought in 1562 between the French Catholics & Huguenots. Basically a French Huguenot force on the way to Le Havre was met & defeated by a Catholic Army. This was inspired by a cracking article at the Wargames Journal on the battle..

http://www.wargamesjournal.com/#
General Jack played the Catholics, he would hold the ground between the villages of Epinay & Blainville. I played the Huguenots & would be the attacker. From the articles OOB we went for 28 bases on each side. We had to add more Gendarmes to the Catholic force. The Huguenots had no Artillery but had the advantage in horsemen, Pistols/Light Horse & Knights. Plus we set up the troops according to the articles map. Shown on our battlefield map below.

The only response from Jack is to Recoil the Landsknect Pike from Artillery fire....

'Pheeeww!!' Though the Catholic Gendarmes nearly force the Pistols into trouble..!

'Oh no!' Jacks Catholics 'sneakily' cut off the route of the heroic Huguenot Knights.

That 'pesky' Catholic Knight stand was a pain throughout the battle, it stood defiantly!

Disaster! The Catholics fight back & make it 3 -3............. 'GGGGrrrrrr!'

'Can I play?' No you Crazy Weimaraner.
Incidentally the mad hound trashed our old Fuji camera. We now have a Fuji FinePix 8100, which I must say is 'superb' so good boy Harvey!!!

First contact is made across the battlefield..
'Charge!' in go the Huguenot horse. On the left flank the Light Horse are straight in.
First blood to the Huguenots!
'Go on!' More casualties for the horrible Catholic force!!!

Oh well, it started fine, but the loss of so many Landsknects??? It was a conspiracy!!!
Jacks raises the arms in the 'mocking of the father routine', all together now......
EASY! EASY! EASY!
