FOW6 Heartbreak Pass 1940

"Western Desert 1940, after the Italian advance into Egypt.  A British counter attack takes place.   An Armoured thrust with Air Support on a Italian held ridge".

I would take the Brits & SPAV the Italians.  This one took place a while back, I've nearly caught up with posting our Battle Reports.

Heartbreak Pass, the Brits would attack from the east,
the Italians would defend the western road.
Italian reinforcements would arrive from 3 random spots (N, S & W).

Infantry & Anti-Tank guns cover the ridge.

Brit Recon.

Also on the southern flank.

Straight down the middle....
TALLY HO!!!!!

Vickers Light Tanks, Cruisers & Matildas.

A Smoke Barrage blots the Big Italian 90mm Gun.

Italian Anti-Tank guns are revealed.

A Vickers Light Tank is destroyed.

TURN TWO
I planned to wipe the Italians off the ridge...

TALLY HO!!

Ger into them.....

The Brit A/C's try to outflank the ridge.

It's looking good for the British attack.

Strike an Italian Anti-Tank gun....

...& another!

Italian reinforcements...
Oh No!  The arrive from the northern pass.

There may be trouble ahead....

A Kill & a Bail Out.

The Italian 90mmm is just as effective as a Jerry 88.

Two more Brit Tanks brew up.

TURN THREE
Come on the Brylcream Boys!

Brit reinforcements arrive.

Bren Carriers armed with Boys Anti-Tank Rifles...

However the Air Strike is Pants....

ATTACK!

More Bren Carriers bolster the southern flank.

The A9 Cruiser has tons of MG's..

Pile on the firepower!
However it's miss after miss for the Brits...

In Flames of War, Machine Guns mean lots of 6's have to be rolled...
It's another poor show for the Brits.

I'm banking on the Matilda 3" Howitzer...

DISAPPOINTED.
More poor die rolls.

SPAV is puuuuriinnngg..
Another great reinforcement roll.
The Tankettes arrive from the southern pass.

Hordes of Italian Tankettes arrive on the western edge.

YER JOKING AREN'T YER?????
Another cracking reinforcement roll.
Italian Tanks from the northern pass.

Lets go hunting Tommies...

There is DEFINITLY trouble ahead...

Satellite View....
A mighty scrap is in progress.

The Italian Tankettes have a go...

The Italian A/C's spy an opportunity...

The Italian Tanks will make short work of the Bren Carriers.

Hits pour into the Vickers Light Tanks,
BUT there is British hope with some superb saving rolls.

One of the Infantry Trucks brews up.

These Italian Tanks are OK in 1940...

TURN FOUR
COME ON THE ROYAL AIR FORCE...

Loads of hits for both sides, at this stage of the war though,
the FIREPOWER saves are easy to make for both sides..

The Matildas proved disappointing..

The Infantry dismount from the trucks...

The Plan is out of the window,
The Brits are reacting to the Italian moves now.

The only thing attacking the ridge are the A/C's.

The KILLER blow eludes the Brits again...

Another poor British Airstrike, only two Infantry losses.

The Vickers Light Tanks regroup & the attack is back on.

TALLY HO!!!!!!!

Despite a lot of Defensive fire, the Vickers overrun the Italian Guns...

One more Italian casualty on the ridge.

The Italian Infantry are going nowhere...

RIGHT, the A9 Cruisers face off against the Italians...

The Italians promptly line up &....

blow away all the A9's....

FIVE in one round.

PLUS the brave Vickers Light Tanks are finally stopped.
A KILL & three Bail Outs.

The Company Commander issues new orders.

All HAIL SPAV...
The Battlefield is held by the Italians.

The Italian troops break out into song...

Raise the Banner High!

The DUCE is overjoyed.....lol!

At this rate Egypt will be Italian soon.

Cheers Phil...

Can't wait to get the next installment played when this Lockdown malarkey is over.

Blitzkrieg Germans/French/Brits & Soviets are on the painting table next.

Loverly for Spav and the Italians! Thanks for sharing, despite your loss. Hardly cricket, eh?

No my friend, it just wasn't cricket, a very poor showing for the Brits. SPAV threw a couple of 'googlies' in there, when both the Tanks & the A/C's arrived in the North.
